Kal was born in Singapore and is a permanent resident of the United States and resides in Mountain View with his wife and 3 sons. Kal has been with PSV Union since 2010 and works primarily with the Academy players and younger players in the club. Kal is also extensively involved in many community activities and management activities within the club; field maintenance, referee scheduling, promotions and marketing and fundraising are some of the activities he has engaged in.
Attended Richmond College in London before transferring tothe University of San Francisco where he played from 1981 through 1982. Kal received a BS in Business and a BA in Economics at USF. In 1996 he received an MBA from the University of Phoenix. He is also a graduate of Leadership Mountain View. Apart from football, he also worked and run a few businesses.
Kal Is on the City of Mountain View’s Human Relations Commission since 2003 and served as the chair for 3 years (2008, 2010, & 2011), and also served on the Mayor’s Green Businesses Awards Selection Committee, and as a facilitator at the City's Annual Youth Diversity Forum.
Kal played for various youth teams in Singapore before getting recruited by professional team Tampines Rovers. Kal represented the Singapore Sikhs in the Singapore Malaysia Gurdwara Cup Tournament as a 17 year old. Additionally, he also represented the Singapore Armed Forces while serving mandatory military service. Upon completion of his military service, he resumed playing with Tampines Rovers.
In the USA Kal played for the San Francisco Italian Athletic Club, Mercury SC, and Hellas in the San Francisco Major Leagues. He coached the University of San Francisco’s Club team that comprised of former and current USF students from 1982 -84.
In 1996 Kal founded 'Soccer West & offered camps in the City of San Mateo'. He has coached with AYSO, MP Strikers, SF All Blacks, Graham Middle School, Palo Alto High School, and Mountain View High School. Served as Regional Coach for AYSO and served on the Boards of the San Francisco All Blacks Soccer Club, AYSO & MP Strikers FC. Kal also founded the Mid-Peninsula Futsal League.
Kal holds a USSF F License, & the NSCAA National Diploma.
